Naveen Dedicates Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College In Koraput

Jeypore: Ending 55 year long cherished dreams of the under developed Koraput district Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today dedicated the Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital (SLNMCH) in Koraput which would benefit poverty stricken people of tribal dominated district and its adjoining districts like Rayagada and Nabarangpur.

As many as 22 professors and 28 assistant professors have been recruited at the institute to impart education while 100 students have taken admission in the first year MBBS. The classes will commence from tomorrow coinciding with Teacher’s Day.

With the functioning of the outdoor, casualty and other departments people from Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur and adjoining districts will be benefitted.

Apart from Chief Minister, state health minister Pratap Jena, SC and ST affairs minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi, MP Jhinna Hikaka also featured in the inaugural ceremony.

However, the Koraput district administration and the police detained the local MLA and Chief Whip of the opposition Congress party in the assembly Tara Prasad Bahinipati and several other party workers who showed black flags to the Chief Minister.
