Bhubaneswar: Following a fresh climb in the cost of diesel, the Odisha government on Saturday expanded the bus fare according to automatic fare adjustment mechanism.
According to a notice issued by the Commerce and Transport office, the fare for conventional and express transports has been hiked by 1 paisa per kilometer, while the toll for Deluxe and AC Deluxe class transports has been hiked by 2 paise per kilometer.
With this hike coming into effect, the fare of ordinary buses will now be 57 paise per km as against 56 paise per km while the fare of express buses has been increased to 60 paise from 59 paise per km.
Similarly, deluxe category buses will now charge 78 paise per km as against 76 paise earlier and for AC Deluxe buses, commuters have to fork out 97 paise instead of the current 95 paise per km, the notification added.
