Puri: In an incident that has raised serious worries among devotees, a dead rat was found in the “Mahaprasad” served at the Shri Jagannath sanctuary here yesterday.
As indicated by sources, the episode occurred on Monday night when a few devotees were devouring the prasad at the Nirmalyakhala of the sanctuary.
Devotees expressed their displeasure over the issue.
Meanwhile, officials Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) said an investigation into the matter will be conducted.
Mahaprasad is offered to devotees at Nirmalyakhala of the temple on every Sankranti.
