Bhubaneswar: An internal audit team of the Union Rural Development Ministry will probe the alleged irregularities in the allocation of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) in Mahanga block in Cuttack district.
Union Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Narendra Singh Tomar today conveyed the Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan about the decision of the ministry through a letter.
The Union Rural Development Minister Narendra Sing Tomar has already directed the Chief Controller of Accounts to dispatch an internal audit team to conduct an inquiry into the incident and submit a report in this connection.
Earlier, Dharmendra had given a letter to the Union Rural Development Ministry requesting it to conduct a probe into the largescale irregularities in identification of beneficiaries under the PMAY in Mahanga block of Cuttack district.
According to reports, Kishore Kumar Rout, Sarpanch of Barahipur grampanchayat and one Rama Chandra Behera, a resident under the block, had drawn the attention of Dharmendra alleging that ruling BJD’s MLAs, BDO and PEOs had indulged in providing benefits to ineligible persons.
