Amid good inflow of foreign capital and anticipation of tax concession for investors, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitive Index (Sensex) gained 250 points and zoomed past the 40000 mark in the morning on Wednesday.
National Stock exchange (NSE) Nifty, too, soared up and crossed the 11800 mark.
Bharti Airtel, L&T, Infosys, ITC, Vedanta, HDFC Bank, Kotak Bank, Bajaj Auto and Sun Pharma were the prominent gainers in the 30-share Sensex.
Earlier on October 29, the stock exchange gained 581 points in hopes of US-China trade deal to close at 39917.01 points.
This is the first instance since July 5, when Sensex crossed 40000 mark. On June 4, the Sensex had touched an all-time mark of 40312.
