Cuttack: Newborn conjoined twin girls, joined at stomach were today shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Sishu Bhawan here after preliminary tests.
The babies underwent CT scan, ultra sound and other medical examinations following which they were shifted to the ICU.
The twin sisters have been kept under observation by a 12-member team of doctors.
The conjoined twins were born to Kishore Dutta and Sumitra Dutta at a private nursing home on December 1 evening in Nayagarh district.
The twins were initially shifted from the nursing home to the Nayagarh District Headquarters hospital which referred the duo to be shifted to Sishu Bhawan in Cuttack.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena after reviewing the health condition of the twins at Sishu Bhawan assured that the Odisha government will bear all the medical expenses of the conjoined twins and provision will be made for their treatment outside the state if required medically.
Notably, this is the second case after conjoined twins Jaga-Kalia, who were recently separated following two major surgeries at AIIMS in New Delhi.
