Security Tightened Across Odisha For 71st Independence Day: DGP


Bhubaneswar: Security measures have been beefed up  in all the 30 districts in the the state ahead of the 71st Independence Day, said Director General of Police(DGP) KB Singh today.

A full parade rehearsal was conducted at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg in the state capital here. All the 56 troops that will take part in the Independence Day parade participated in the rehearsal parade today morning.

DGP KB Singh informed that for the first time contingents from ITPP, Odisha Swift Action Force and ODRAF have been included in the parade. “We have been very selective in selecting the contingents. Last time there were 65 contingents while this year we chose 53 teams to improve quality,” said the DGP.

He also said alert calls have been sent all the police stations across the state while the Maoist-affected districts have been put on red alert.

The  Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police has too has pulled up its shocks for the occasion. As many as 25 platoons of police forces will be deployed at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg on August 15 and 50 CCTV cameras are set to be installed.

A total of 56 troops, from schools, colleges and police forces, will  participate in the parade Independence Day parade

Besides, one platoon of police force from Telangana and the newly-formed Odisha Police Swift Action Force  will participate in the march past for the first time..
