Silenced Voice: Kunduli Dalit Gang Rape Victim Hangs Self To Death In Koraput

Koraput: While the entire state was busy in celebrating Saraswati Pooja with great gaiety and fervor and the state capital was awaiting to receive its Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik after receiving the most Ideal Chief Minister’s award at Pune on January 20 came the shocking news of suicidal death of the Kunduli gang rape minor survivor turned the afternoon into a gruesome gloom.

The minor tribal girl reportedly took the extreme step by hanging herself at her house.

According to reports, the victim attempted to end her life by hanging self. However, she was rescued in a critical condition and was rushed to Kunduli hospital where the attending doctors pronounced her brought dead.

The minor class IX class student of Sorisapadar village under Potangi police station limits in Koraput district was allegedly brutally gang raped by four men in the fatigue of jawans of Central paramilitary forces while returning from the Kunduli daily market on October 10 in 2017 that created a huge public outcry in the state.

The Odisha police failed to nab the alleged accused and the trouble weas compounded further for the state police when the victim last month alleged that none other than the Director General of Police R P Sharma had offered her Rs. 90,000 in cash and asked her to sign on a plain paper at the hospital while she was undergoing treatment to buy her silence.

Be that as it may, she has fallen silent and the field is wide open for politicians as it was when she was alive even after the gang rape incident happened and she was admitted to the local hospital here and then shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for better treatment.
She returned after her conditions improved no doubt but she finally decided to silence herself and to return never to complain against anyone. Neither the DGP nor the state administration for not providing her justice.
