Antigua PM: Mehul Choksi’s Extradition Will Happen Once His Appeals Run Out

Antigua Prime Minister Gaston Browne backed extradition of fugitive Indian diamond trader Mehul Choksi and said his several appeals need to be exhausted.

The Antiguan PM asserted Choksi as a “crook”.

PM Browne said, our country has some laws and Choksi’s matter is before the judiciary. The PM added, India is free to extradite and interrogate him only after his appeals seem no valid and he becomes no value to Antigua Barbuda.

PM Browne said, we are not protecting the crook but Mehul Choksi’s citizenship was under examination and will be revoked. Hence it is a difficult situation.

Mehul Choksi acquired citizenship of Antigua and Barbuda on January 15, 2018.

Choksi had been issued Red Corner Notice (RCN) by the Interpol in December 2018 in the 13,500 crore PNB bank fraud case.
