Bulandshahr Violence: UP Police Arrests Prime Suspect Yogesh Raj


The Uttar Pradesh police in a major breakthrough have nabbed prime accused Yogesh Raj near a college in Khurja area around 20 kilometres from Bulandshahr on the night of January 2. The Bajrang Dal activist had escaped after the police-mob clash on December 3.

Before the night of Bulandshahr violence, Yogesh Raj and his group had lodged an FIR citing “cow slaughter by seven persons”. Raj has confessed to the police of his involvement in the protest. He was present on the riot night and had pelted stones towards the policemen.

Yogesh Raj, a Bajrang Dal activist had earlier circulated a video citing his innocence and disagreeing with the people who alleged him of being a “history-sheeter”.

Siyana Cirlce officer has confirmed Raj’s arrest saying, “Yes, Yogesh Raj has been arrested. He is undergoing medical examination and will be produced in the local court later today for legal proceedings.”

Raj’s other associates are still at large and the killing of Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh in the riots is under investigation.
