Kamal Hassan Gets Anticipatory Bail by Madras HC over ‘Godse – First Free Extremist’ Row


Actor-turned-politician Kamal Hassan application for anticipatory bail was granted by the Madras High Court (HC) on Monday after charges under Sections – 153 (A) and 259 (A) were registered on the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) leader over his comments on Nathuram Godse on May 12 at Aravakkurichi.

The MNM leader while at a poll rally in Aravakkurichi had said, Mahatma Gandhi’s killer Nathuram Godse as first Hindu free extremist which sparked controversy and the former actor later received flak from the masses at poll rally events with chappals, eggs and stones.

Section 153 (A) and Section 295 (A) charged against the MNM leader leads to outraging religious feelings and promoting enmity between different groups.

However, the MNM leader said, “I am not afraid of being arrested. Let them arrest me. If they that it will only create more problems. It is not a warning only an advice.”
