A MiG-21 fighter plane crashed after a bird impact in Bikaner in Rajasthan on Friday. The pilot has managed to eject safely.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter plane had taken off from Nal near Bikaner city on a routine mission in the afternoon. It is reported that the MiG jet suffered technical snag during its course of operation.
As per reports, a bird hit has caused malfunction in the jet.
Bikaner SP Pradeep Mohan Sharma confirmed on the MiG accident and said it crash landed at Shobashar ki Dhani which is a few kilometers away from Bikaner city.
No casualty or loss of life has been reported. The police have cordoned off the area.
A statement released by the IAF said, “Today afternoon a MiG-21 aircraft on a routine mission crashed after getting airborne from Nal near Bikaner. Initial reports indicate the likely cause as bird hit after takeoff. Pilot of the aircraft ejected safely. A Court of Inquiry (CoI) will investigate the cause of the accident.”
