Sacked Border Security Force (BSF) soldier Tej Bahadur Yadav who had complained of army’s poor food standards in a video is now named as the Samajwadi Party’s (SP) Varanasi candidate for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections on Monday.
Tej Bahadur is pitted against Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Varanasi.
Yadav replaced earlier nominated candidate Shalini Yadav who is the daughter-in-law of former Congress Rajya Sabha member Shyam Lal Yadav.
Tej Bahadur Yadav hails from Rewari in Haryana. The Varanasi poll is the final phase of polls in 2019 which goes floors on May 19.
