PM  Dedicates Multimodal Terminal to The Nation; Inaugurates Major Road Projects


The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, visited Varanasi on Monday. Modi inaugurated the foundation stone of projects worth over Rs 2400 crores. The Multimodal Terminal on the river Ganga got the first nation cargo status. The Varanasi Ring Road Phase-1 was inaugurated & the quadruple lane of Babatpur-Varanasi section of NH-56 got its nod. A slew of development projects in Varanasi were also flagged. 

Terming the day as historic PM Modi spelt out the benefits it brings to the entire region of Kashi, Poorvanchal, for Eastern India, and for the whole of India. The next generation infrastructure’s vision can transform the means of transport of Varanasi as well as the nation’s, as addressed by the PM. 

The first inland container in Varanasi now connects the Eastern Uttar Pradesh with The Bay of Bengal, asserted the PM. 

The projects relating to Namaami Gange inauguration & similar others were mentioned.

The Prime Minister said the inland water way would reduce time, congestion, fuel cost & vehicular pollution. The road connecting Babatpur Airport with Varanasi is attracting tourists facilitating travel. He also said the last four years has seen modern infrastructure grow at rapid pace. The airports, rail connectivity, rural roads & highways in remote areas have become Union Government’s identity. 

The PM also said projects under Namaami Gange have been approved worth Rs.23000 crores yet. He claims the open defecation free of all villages lying along the banks of Ganga taken up by Union Government is just to complete.
