Ponzi Scam: CBI Questions Kolkata Top Cop Rajeev Kumar in Shillong


As per Supreme Court’s order on February 5, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) questions Kolkata commissioner Rajeev Kumar regarding his investigation and evidence misplaced in Saradha chit fund case on Saturday.

Earlier in Saturday’s morning, both Rajeev Kumar and 10-member CBI officials were present at the agency’s headquarters in Shillong. The Supreme Court had earlier ordered Shillong as the “neutral” venue.

Kumar had reached Shillong along with 3 West Bengal police officers on February 8. While, Kumar had conveyed to the CBI that he can’t participate in the investigation procedure because of police arrangement in the upcoming Saraswati puja and board exams on February 12 in the West Bengal state.

Earlier on February 8, the CBI headquarters at CGO Complex in Kolkata have been gheraoed by the Trinamool leaders and protesters.

The Supreme Court earlier, had ordered to file Rajeev Kumar’s response before February 18 and has scheduled February 20 for the hearing.
