The Supreme Court gave the former Union Minister P Chidambaram to withdraw his non-bailable arrest plea after the apex court rejected his anticipatory bail plea from arrest on Thursday.
The SC bench of Justices R Banumathi and A S Bopanna said, “Anticipatory bail is not a matter of right and refusing the relief is not a violation of Article 21.”
However, the top court said, Chidambaram can approach for regular bail in the concerned trial court.
Meanwhile, P Chidambaram’s counsel A M Sanghvi has withdrawn the Supreme Court plea against non-bailable warrant.
The SC ruled the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has the right to conduct custodial interrogation.
