Sonia Gandhi, Once Again Chairperson of Congress Parliamentary Committee


United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chief Sonia Gandhi gets re-elected as the chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Committee (CPP) in a party MP (Member of Parliament) meet at the Central Hall of Parliament on Saturday.

Sonia Gandhi’s extended chairperson tenure was attended by the 52 elected Lok Sabha MPs of the Congress party in the 2019 elections, along with the Rajya Sabha members and Congress Working Committee (CWC) members among others.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala announced in his tweet, “Sonia Gandhi elected as the leader of the Congress Parliamentary Party! She says, ‘we thank the 12 13 Cr voters for reposing faith in the Congress party.”

Congress President Rahul Gandhi also through his tweet said, “Congratulations to Smt Sonia Gandhi on being elected Leader of the Congress Parliamentary Party. Under her leadership, the Congress will prove to be a strong and effective opposition party, that will fight to defend the Constitution.”

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi has won from her family constituency Rae Bareilly in the 2019 polls and will choose the Congress leader in the Lok Sabha.
