BJP in Odisha Announces Candidates: 22 Assembly Constituencies and 5 Lok Sabha Seats


The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced a list of candidates for 22 assembly constituencies along with 5 Lok Sabha seats on March 22 for the upcoming 2019 polls.

Resting aside earlier speculations of PM Modi contesting from Puri, the BJP has put its spokesperson Sambit Patra, while the names of BJD and Congress candidates from the temple town are yet to be revealed.

Further reports reveal, state president Basant Kumar Panda to contest from Kalahandi constituency and Suresh Pujari (National Secretary) will field from Bargarh Lok Sabha constituency.

The Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat BJP candidate is sitting MLA Nitish Ganga Deb, while the BJP has not announced candidate for Kandhamal Lok sabha seat.

Among the 22 assembly constituencies, son of former CM Giridhar Gamang, his son Shisir Gamang will run up for Gunpur constituency.

Two former Biju Janata Dal members – Debraj Mohanty and Purna Chandra Nayak will contest from Aska in Ganjam and Daspalla in Nayagarh on BJP ticket.

While Odia film actor Pinky Pradhan is to contest from Digapahandi constituency.

Earlier, the BJP had announced candidates for 10 Lok Sabha seats and 99 assembly constituencies.
