BJP Workers Ransack V. K. Pandian’s Residence, 5 Arrested


Bhubaneswar: At least five Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists were arrested by the Twin City police on charges of unlawful trespassing and ransacking the official residence of V. Karthikeyan Pandian, the private secretary to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, here today.

“It is very unfortunate that a public servant has been attacked. The City police has taken the matter very seriously and most stringent action will be initiated against those who are involved in the incident. Some of them have already been arrested and there will be more arrrests. We will not allow anyone to violate the law so brazenly here in the state capital,” said Commissioner Y B Khurania who rushed to the spot on getting information about the incident.

Earlir, more than 30 workers of the opposition BJP waving party flags stormed into V K Pandian’s official residence and ransacked flower pots, damaged the vehicles parked inside the quarter and hurled cow dungs and stones.

The ruling BJd along with the Congress party have strongly condemned the acts of vandalism perpetrated by the workers of the saffron party.
