The sanitation workers of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) held protests near the Jaydev Vihar square in Bhubaneswar and blocked the road halting the traffic for an hour in the morning hours on Friday.
The agitating BMC workers were protesting for non-payment of their pending salaries. The workers formed a human corridor and burnt tyres on the road diverting the commuters.
The police reached the spot after an hour and controlled the situation.
However, a police officer pulled out his pistol to neutralise the agitating workers.
As per reports, these BMC workers have been employed on contractual basis under a private organisation.
