Bomikhal Flyover Collapse: Panda Infra Chief Pratap In Twin City Police Net


Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate Police today afternoon arrested owner of Panda Infra Projects Private Limited Pratap Kishore Panda in connection with the Bomikhal over-bridge collapse case here.

The high profile builder who was absconding since September 10 after the flyover collapsed was arrested following his surrender before Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi this afternoon.

Notably, Panda Infra is the company that had undertaken the construction of the Bomikhal flyover a portion of which collapsed killing one person and injuring 20 others.

The city police on its own had earlier registered a criminal case in connection with the mishap. It had booked Pratap and two other board of directors of Panda Infra for criminal negligence under Sections 304, 337, 338 and 34 of the IPC as prime accused in the mishap case.

Meanwhile the Twin City police has sealed two offices of the construction company including its main office at Vivekanand Marg in the state capital. Efforts are on to nab the two other accused directors who are Pratap’s family members,

In another development, the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) today issued a notice to the State government taking suo motu cognisance of media reports on the incident.

The OHRC has asked Works Department Secretary and the Police Commissioner to probe the matter and submit the report within a fortnight.
