Bhubaneswar: The state Vigilance Wing is receiving positive response regarding its action against corrupt practices after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik asked the anti-corruption bureau to curb percentage menace especially in rural zones in the Rural Housing sector.
This was revealed by the State Vigilance Director R P Sharma at the Diamond Jubilee Ceremony of the State Vigilance Department held here today.
Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest, Chief Minister Naveen Pattanaik urged the watchdog agency to be tough on government officials resorting to corrupt practices and adopt a Zero Tolerance approach to corruption.
“In 2016, the state Vigilance Wing has registered the highest number of cases and inquiries against Class-I officers and registered a quantum jump,” claimed the Vigilance Director.
“In order to provide seamless two-ways communication between Vigilance and Citizenry, state vigilance department has revamped its website and the project aims at establishing seamless two-way communication between state vigilance and citizens, especially senior citizens at large,” R P Sharma said
“Meanwhile, to enhance accessibility, the state vigilance wing has created various modes of communication like Toll Free Number, Face Book Page, Twitter handle and Dedicated Telephone Lines,” informed the Vigilance Director.
