According to a study, the north-eastern states of India has been adversely affected as the temperature is up by two degree Celsius when the whole world is buzzing over ‘Climate change’ and its effects.
Advancement of the North Eastern Area (DoNER) Minister Jitendra Singh, while dealing with the Lok Sabha on Thursday said that the northeastern states of India have seen a rise of two degree Celsius temperature level badly impacting the environment in addition to health of the people.
The research study was performed by the Indian Network of Environment Change Assessment (INCCA) in 2010 to asses the impact of environment modification on four essential sectors of Indian agriculture, water, natural ecosystems and biodiversity.
As per the study, the northeastern area will see an increase in temperatures by 1.8 to 2.1 degrees Celsius and an increase in the mean yearly rains by 0.3 to 3 percent in the 2030s.
This suggests that the boost in temperature levels may result in decrease in rice production in addition to may influence the nutritional health of individuals.
The research evaluated 4 environment delicate areas of India -sensitive Himalayan region, the Western Ghats, the seaside area and the North-East area.
In June 2008, the federal government created the National Action Consider Environment Change (NAPCC) to deal with environment modification relevant concerns.
A thematic plan on ‘Environment Change Action Programme (CCAP)’ with an investment of Rs 290 crores was released throughout the 12th Five Year Strategy to deal with the issues related to climate change.
A scientist on Friday declared that environment modification is going to “favorably” effect rice and tea crops in northeast.
According to Chandan Mahanta of the IIT-Guwahati, a modelling research study carried out by the institute revealed that in the next 15 years (till 2030), rice and tea can actually have an advantage from environment change.
