Cape Town: South African Test skipper Hashim Amla stood tall as he played a brilliant knock and completed his career-third double ton, his third on day-4 here on Tuesday after England set a massive 629 run first innings total.
Amla has played a quality knock at the right time when his side was requiring that kind of marathon innings. He scored 201 runs while played important roles in two massive partnerships with AB De Villiers and FaF Du Plessis.
He first added 183 runs with De Villiers for the third wicket followed by another huge 171 runs with Du Plessis for the fourth wicket.
Stuart Broad picked Amla’s wicket soon after he completed his double ton.
Meanwhile, the very next over, James Anderson picked the well set wicket of Du Plessis. He scored 86 runs.
Few overs later, Broad also dismissed Quinton De Kock for a mere 5 runs.
After then, Temba Bavuma and Chris Morris have handled the situation well and continue to frustrate the visitors as they have already added 76 runs for the seventh wicket before the umpires called the Tea break on day-4.
Bavuma is batting on 52 from 58 deliveries including 11 boundaries while Morris is batting on 24 from 49 deliveries.
The hosts are 104 runs behind the England total as they have scored 525/6 till Tea break.
