Bhubaneswar:  The state government on Monday admitted that so far there have been only two sunstroke deaths in Odisha this summer. However, unofficial reports have claimed it to be at least 17, sources said.

Reacting to a query by newsmen on the heat wave death toll, deputy relief commissioner Pravat Mohapatra clarified that of the 17 reported cases, the state government already six cases have been verified and 11 more would be probed soon. However, of the six cases only two were found to be due to heat wave conditions, he added.
