Pakistan PM Imran Khan Talks of Retaliation over the Indian Airstrike


The airstrike by India at Balakot in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan on Tuesday at pre dawn hours has drawn Pakistan PM Imran Khan into a retaliatory rhetoric.

The Pakistan PM said, “Pakistan will respond at the time and place of its choosing.”

Pakistan PM had chaired a special meeting of the National Security Committee at the Pakistan PM’s office along with ministers of foreign affairs, defence, finance, chairman of joint chiefs of staff and other senior members.

Pakistan has claimed of the airstrike being conducted with regard to General Elections in India.

The Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said, “I will term it a grave aggression… It is a violation of the Line of Control. Pakistan holds the right to self defence and proper response.”

The Pakistan Foreign Minister had called for an “emergency meeting” after the Indian airstrike.

Qureshi also added, “A section in India is trying to disturb the peace in the region. Indian government is in dire need of winning the upcoming elections, selfish enough they are winning to create unrest in the entire region. Pakistan will use all international forums to expose India while being ready to retaliate any aggression.”

The Pakistan PM had tweeted, “Qureshi warned India not to challenge Pakistan. Pakistan is fully prepared to respond to any misadventure.”

Pakistan Major General Asif Ghafoor, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations had tweeted, “Indian aircraft intruded from Muzafarabad sector. Facing timely and effective response from Pakistan Air Force released payload in haste while escaping which fell near Balakot. No casualities or damage.”
