Indian Navy To Train Marine Police At INS Chilika

Bhubaneswar (Samaya Bureau): The Indian Navy has given its nod to provide training to state marine police personnel at INS Chilka enhance its counter-terrorism capabilities in the  coastline stretching over 460 KM.

The Indian Navy would initially impart training to 50 police officials at INS Chillika in two batches from July.

 “The Navy has decided to provide basic training on seamanship, how to follow standard operation procedure (SOP) during counter-terrorism operations in coastal areas, tracking illegal trawlers and pirates,” Home Secretary Asit Tripathy told media persons here today. .

The state government, in order to strengthen its marine security, has set up 18 marine police stations along its 460 KM  long coastline.

Maritime Police is being organised as a step to enhance marine security.
