Cuttack: The SCB Nursing School students, who are on strike since May 8 requesting the ouster of their chief Kajalrani Sinha and lifting of sine pass on, have chosen to meet the Health and Family Welfare minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak for the second time on May 24.

The agitating students had talked about their grievances with the Health secretary on May 16 and the Health serve the next day.

Though the Health minister had assured them to take a decision on the ouster of the Principal and lifting of sine die very soon, no action has been taken till date, the agitating nursing students pointed out.

“We had met the Health secretary in Bhubaneswar on May 16, who had assured us of action after receiving the inquiry report from the Superintendent of SCB Medical College and Hospital. The next day, we had met the Health minister, who also assured us that he would take a decision very soon. We are still hopeful that the minister will take a decision in our favour. In case he does not take any decision, we have decided to meet him again on May 24. We will also request the SCB Superintendent to allow us to perform our duty in the hospital without staying in the hostel. We will also request our teachers to teach us outside the school premises. Since the authorities have declared our school sine die, our studies as well as the health services in different wards of the hospital have been affected,” Amita Sahu, a Nursing student, told the media.
